With such a rich history, it’s no surprise that a haunted house attraction in Morris County has become one of the most popular in the country.
According to a recent study by SIXT, a rental car company that researches popular trip destinations, Wharton’s 13th Hour Haunted House, at 105 West Dewey Avenue, is among the top five best in the country.
According to 13th Hour, the site of the attraction was once home to the Hayden Family in the early 1970s. The family of four isolated themselves from their neighbors, often inviting complete strangers and out-of-towners into their home.
The patriarch could often be seen outside his home and farmhouse brandishing an axe, not as a tool, but as a weapon. That, in addition to the odd noises and smells that seeped from the farmhouse, gave neighbors reason enough to keep away.
