History is coming back to life in Morristown! After its originally scheduled September activities were postponed due to inclement weather, Living History Weekend will return on November 7–8, 2026, giving residents and visitors another opportunity to explore the people, places, and stories that helped shape our nation.
Presented as part of Morris County’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the rescheduled weekend will feature historic-site open houses and tours, a Revolutionary-era encampment, a special fireworks display, and a Sunday afternoon concert. The celebration offers an exciting opportunity to experience Morristown’s rich history while enjoying the community’s welcoming downtown and cultural attractions.
Step Back in Time on Saturday, November 7
Saturday’s festivities will invite visitors to discover Morristown’s Revolutionary War heritage through special programming and experiences throughout town.
Explore Morristown’s Historic Sites
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore local history through open houses and tours at participating historic sites. These landmarks offer a closer look at the people, events, and everyday experiences that shaped Morristown and Morris County during the American Revolution and beyond.
Potential stops include Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, Sansay House, and the Presbyterian Church in Morristown. Because the updated schedule and participating-site availability are still being finalized, visitors should contact each location directly before planning a visit.
Experience a Revolutionary-Era Encampment
Living history brings the past into the present, offering an engaging way to connect with the experiences of those who lived during the founding of the United States.
The planned encampment reenactment will bring historical activity to the heart of Morristown, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of an earlier era while learning more about the region’s Revolutionary history. Additional information about the location and programming will be announced as plans are finalized.
Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with Fireworks
Saturday’s celebration is expected to conclude with a special Living History Weekend fireworks display, sponsored by Sanofi.
Currently scheduled for 5:00–6:00 p.m. on November 7, the display will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and provide a memorable conclusion to the day’s activities.
Listed viewing locations include Pioneers’ Plaza on Speedwell Avenue and Cauldwell Park, at Clyde Potts Drive and Flagler Street. Parking is very limited, so attendees are encouraged to walk when possible.
Visitors should check the latest event announcements before heading out, as event logistics and arrangements may be updated.
