Madison Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies

Madison to Commemorate Memorial Day with Parade and Ceremonies
Monday May 27
9:30am at Lower James Park, 13 Madison Ave, Madison, NJ 07940

Madison, NJ – Madison will once again honor the sacrifices of its military members with its annual Memorial Day parade, set to take place on Monday, May 27. The procession will commence promptly at 9:30 a.m. from Lower James Park, located at the intersection between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue. Preceding the parade, two solemn ceremonies are scheduled to pay tribute to fallen heroes.

The first ceremony will commence at 9:00 a.m. at the World War II and Korean War memorials located at James Park, 13 Madison Avenue. Subsequently, at 9:15 a.m., the second ceremony will be held at the World War I memorial situated at Lower James Park.

Following a designated route, the parade will march down Main Street, make a right turn onto Prospect Street, and culminate on Kings Road outside the Hartley Dodge Memorial (50 Kings Road).

Organized by the Madison Patriotic Celebrations Committee, this cherished tradition seeks to honor the memory of individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. The committee encourages the submission of names and photographs of fallen service members from all branches of the military, as well as those currently serving, whose families reside in Madison. These individuals will be honored during Madison’s Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremonies, held on the steps of the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building immediately following the parade.

Residents, particularly Gold Star Mothers, wishing to commemorate their loved ones at this year’s ceremony are kindly urged to reach out to Vic Schumacher at (862) 324-4275 by Monday, May 13. Special seating arrangements will be made available for Gold Star Mothers at the portion of the ceremony at Hartley Dodge Memorial.

In a continued tradition, residents have the opportunity to honor their veteran relatives, friends, or active-duty members by sponsoring an engraved brick to be placed on the pathway at James Park. Each brick can be purchased for $115, and applications can be accessed online at www.rosenet.org.

This year’s parade and ceremonies are once again made possible thanks to the Patriotic Celebrations Committee and American Legion Post 43, with support from the Madison Police Department and Fire Department. Spectators are encouraged to line the parade route and attend the ceremonies. Road closures will occur prior to the parade stepping off, and detours will be in place throughout the duration of the events.
