History will come to life across Morristown this fall during a weekend filled with discovery, community, and American heritage. From Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27, 2026, residents and visitors are invited to explore the people, places, and stories that helped shape Morris County and the nation.
Living History Weekend in Morristown, NJ will feature historic sites, interactive experiences, local organizations, and opportunities for visitors of all ages to connect with the past. Whether you are a lifelong history enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable fall weekend, there will be plenty to experience throughout Morristown.
A Full Weekend of History and Community
Living History Weekend begins Friday evening and continues through the annual Morristown Festival on the Green on Sunday. Programming will take place at several locations throughout Morristown, allowing visitors to explore local landmarks while enjoying the community’s restaurants, shops, breweries, and attractions.
Additional programming details are still being finalized, but several event times and participating locations have now been announced. Here is a preview of what is planned.
Friday: Put Your Local Knowledge to the Test
Kick off the weekend on Friday, September 25 with Morris County History Trivia Night at Glenbrook Brewery.
Gather your team, enjoy local brews, and see how much you know about the people, events, and places that define Morris County’s history. It is a fun and casual way to begin the weekend while learning a few new local facts along the way.
Morris County History Trivia Night will take place from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Saturday: Step Inside Morristown’s History
Saturday, September 26, will offer several opportunities to experience history throughout town.
Historic Site Open Houses and Tours
Explore the places where history happened through special open houses and tours of Morristown’s historic sites. Visitors will have the opportunity to step inside important local landmarks and learn more about their connections to the American Revolution and the development of the community.
Open houses and tours will be held from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, Sansay House, and the Presbyterian Church in Morristown.
Encampment on the Morristown Green
The Morristown Green will become the setting for an immersive historical encampment. Visitors can experience the sights and stories of the past while learning about life during the Revolutionary era.
Located in the heart of downtown Morristown, the encampment will make it easy to incorporate history into a full day of dining, shopping, and exploring. Sunday: Explore the History Corridor
Living History Weekend continues Sunday, September 27, during the Morristown Festival on the Green.
From 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, visitors can explore the festival’s History Corridor and meet representatives from historical organizations across Morris County. Learn about the stories these groups preserve, discover new places to visit, and connect with the people working to keep local history alive.
The History Corridor offers an engaging way for festival attendees of all ages to discover how Morris County has contributed to the nation’s story.
