Sydney Sweeney Seen Filming New Movie In Morris County

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The new year is off to a great start for Morris County, which continues to shine as a sought-after location for film shoots. Actress Sydney Sweeney was among the stars spotted filming in the area this past weekend.

Production of the film adaptation of “The Housemaid” recently began at Green Way Markets in Ridgewood. Sweeney was seen filming scenes at The Peck School and other locations around Morristown, according to the Instagram page Ms. Morristown and TAPinto Morristown.

Adapted from the New York Times bestselling novel by Freida McFadden, “The Housemaid” is a psychological thriller starring Sydney Sweeney as Millie Calloway. Millie takes a job as a maid for Nina and Andrew Winchester, played by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar. As she becomes more involved with the Winchesters, she begins to uncover their dark and disturbing secrets.

The film is directed by Paul Feig, best known for his work on hits like “Bridesmaids,” “The Heat,” “Spy,” “Ghostbusters,” “A Simple Favor,” and “Last Christmas.”

While filming has only just begun, “The Housemaid” has already secured the highly coveted release date of December 25, 2025, according to a recent report from The Hollywood Reporter.

Best known for her Emmy-nominated roles in “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus,” Sweeney was most recently seen in Sony’s box office hit “Anyone But You” opposite Glen Powell, as well as the horror thriller “Immaculate.”

Morris County has become a popular backdrop for a number of film and television projects, both currently in production and recently completed.

The upcoming indie movie “Miller by Marriage” was recently filming in Morristown, with actors Julianna Margulies and Campbell Scott spotted shooting scenes alongside actor and director Ed Burns.

Last year, Ryan Murphy’s “American Sports Story” was seen shooting scenes inside Roots Steakhouse and at 25 Community Pl. and prior to that, “It Ends With Us,” which starred Blake Lively, was caught filming scenes in Chatham Borough.

NJ’s Motion Picture and Television Commission keeps a list of all productions filmed in the Garden State.

Gov. Phil Murphy has expressed a strong desire to increase filmmaking in New Jersey, which offers one of the most generous tax incentives for film studios in the country.
