Morris County Small Businesses Secure Significant State Grant Funding Through NJEDA Programs
Morristown, NJ (Feb 19, 2026) — Morris County continues to demonstrate strong economic momentum as dozens of local small businesses were approved for state funding through the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s (NJEDA) Small Business Improvement Grant (SBIG) and Small Business Lease Grant (SBLG) programs in 2025.
In total, 51 Morris County small businesses were approved for the NJEDA Small Business Improvement Grant, which provides reimbursement for building improvements and the purchase of new furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Funded through the Main Street Recovery Finance Program under the New Jersey Economic Recovery Act, the program supports reinvestment in commercial spaces across the county. Of those approved, 13 businesses received the maximum grant award of $50,000, representing communities including Riverdale, Morristown, Chester, Hanover, Parsippany, Madison, Randolph, Pompton Plains, and Whippany. Overall, 21 Morris County municipalities and regions were represented in the SBIG approvals.
Additionally, 27 Morris County small businesses were approved for funding through the NJEDA Small Business Lease Grant, which helps businesses and nonprofits offset lease costs while encouraging the activation of vacant commercial space. In 2025, Morris County recipients were approved for up to $78,320 in lease support, with the highest award going to the Randolph Athletic Club. Fourteen unique municipalities and regions across the county were represented among approved lease grant recipients.
“These grant programs play a critical role in supporting local entrepreneurs, strengthening downtowns, and enhancing the visitor experience throughout Morris County,” said Meghan Hunscher, President & CEO of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, MCEDC, and Morris County Tourism Bureau. “Investments in our small business community directly support vibrant main streets, local jobs, and the destinations that make Morris County a great place to live, work, and visit.”
The Morris County Tourism Bureau applauds the continued investment in local businesses and the collaborative efforts that drive long-term economic resilience across the county.
