Harmonium Choral Society Announces NEW Concert Season

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Harmonium Choral Society welcomes you to their 46th year of cutting-edge choral performances. Artistic Director Dr. Anne Matlack has planned an exciting season. “We are celebrating the creative spirit in fresh works, old gems, and new collaborations in the community. I am inspired to balance old favorites of the choral canon with inspired new works by contemporary composers”.

2024-2025 Concert Season Schedule:

  • SNOW ANGEL on DECEMBER 7 & 8, 2024
    Experience rebirth and beauty through the eyes of children, under the watchful gaze of angels, in Sarah Quartel’s evocative Snow Angel, for chorus, cello and djembe. With East Coast premiere of Joe Gregorio’s Unbound Angels and gems by Bruckner, Buxtehude, Hailstork and Rossi. The Presbyterian Church in Morristown. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. & Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • SING ME TO HEAVEN on MARCH 1 & 2, 2025
    Comforting and uplifting reflections on life’s end, featuring Eleanor Daley’s exquisite Requiem and works by Heinrich Schütz, Dave Matthews, and Caldwell and Ivory’s Ain’t No Grave. Morristown United Methodist Church. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. & Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • ON MY JOURNEY on MAY 3 & 4, 2025
    The select Chamber Singers traverse stages of life and musical eras through the music of William Byrd, Herbert Howells, Abbie Betinis and others. Grace Episcopal Church, Madison. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. & Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • DREAMERS on JUNE 7 & 8, 2025
    Melissa Dunphy inspires us to hope, empathy, and action in American DREAMers, honoring five young Americans brought to this country as children. Premiere of the 28th High School Choral Composition Contest winner and works by Saunder Choi and Elizabeth Alexander.
    The concert will be presented in partnership with Literacy Volunteers of Morris County and Wind of the Spirit Immigration Resource Center of NJ. Morristown United Methodist Church. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. & Sunday at 3 p.m.

  • Adult: $96
  • Senior (65+): $80
  • Teacher or Student: $80

 

Single concert ticket:

  • Adult: $40 at the door; $30 in advance
  • Teacher or Student: $35 at the door; $25 in advance.

 

Other Fall & Winter Harmonium Events:

  • BEER CHOIR Glenbrook Brewery on Tuesday, October. 8 at 7:00pm, Morristown – If you like beer, and you like to sing, you’ll love Beer Choir. NEW location, games and food this year. Homemade food for purchase by Morristown’s favorite, Verrilli’s – Brats, Bavarian pretzels, potato pancakes and their famous Spudnuts (potato donuts with yummy toppings) and non-alcoholic drinks. This fun evening is open to the public, and we encourage you to invite everyone you know!
  • HALLOWEEN CONCERT Saturday, October 26 at 7 p.m., Grace Episcopal Church, Madison. It’s back! The family friendly bi-annual Halloween Concert presented by Harmonium Choral Society and Grace Community Music. Admission is a freewill donation at the door to help defray costs. Please also bring a non-perishable food donation if you can. The concert is appropriate for ages 3 and up, and costumes are welcome. Reception follows.
  • FIRST NIGHT MORRIS performances on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Morristown.
  • VIOLINS OF HOPE: Singing Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms in collaboration with the New Jersey Youth Symphony and New Jersey Youth Chorus.
