Enjoy Winter & Spring Planetarium Shows at the Longo Planetarium! The Longo Planetarium at CCM is ready to launch visitors into a new, out-of-this-world experience to Mars! Explore Mars, stars, constellations and much more under the starry sky of the planetarium dome. Shows run twice a month on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. Voyage to the Red Planet at the Longo Planetarium
Digistar 7, the world’s most advanced planetarium system, has arrived at the County College of Morris’ Longo Planetarium! After a state-of-the-art computer and software upgrade, the planetarium is ready to launch visitors into an out-of-this-world experience to Mars!
The planetarium is offering star shows for the general public, on the second and fourth weekend of the month. This year a new show “Mars: The Ultimate Voyage” will take you on a flight to the red planet. Mars is closest to Earth this winter and so it is the perfect opportunity to explore this fascinating world.
The planetarium’s popular shows “Edge of Darkness” and “One Sky” will also continue. “Edge of Darkness” explores comets, asteroids and Pluto. “One Sky” is a great introduction for kids to the night sky utilizing stories from around the world.
Planet Parade
All shows include a brief tour of the night sky. This winter we have a wonderful “parade” of planets visible in the evening sky: six planets are visible after sunset. Our sky tours will include these planets and tips on how to view them.
About the Longo Planetarium
Since 1973, the Longo Planetarium has been bringing stars to Northern New Jersey. Here you can explore the Universe from the Earth and other planets in our Solar System to stars, galaxies and beyond. Our newly upgraded Digistar 7 planetarium system can display thousands of stars, the planets and the Moon onto a 33-foot diameter dome. All are welcome to attend public programs; school and scout groups can be scheduled in advance. Our fall schedule features public programs on the 2nd and 4th weekends of the month.
