Wharton Canal Day Walking Tour

Wharton Canal Day Walking Tour

The Morris County Historical Society partners with local historians and history organizations to present a Morris County Walking Tour Series celebrating the area’s rich and diverse past. From April through October, join us for nearly 40 guided walking tours that explore almost two dozen communities throughout Morris County, with topics ranging from unique historic districts, downtowns, and neighborhoods to local industries that shaped the landscape, and the individuals who left a lasting impact. Tours will meet at Hugh Force Canal Park, 100 West Central Avenue, Wharton, NJ, 07885, and take place at 11:30am, 1:30pm, and 3:30pm

On this tour, we’ll walk along a water-filled section of the Morris Canal and visit Lock 2 East, a historic site that has been brought back to life. Guided walking tours begin at the interpretive panels at the parking-lot end of the canal and depart at 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 3:30 PM. FREE. Rain/Shine. Pre-registration required.
