On July 14, 2024, the Whippany Railway Museum, located at Route 10 West & Whippany Road in Whippany, will host its 2nd Annual “TrainYard Fundraiser Sale”!
Explore the historic trains and rail cars as you browse through a variety of items for sale to raise funds for the Museum’s historic restoration projects. The sale will include railroad books and magazines, railway artwork, antique lanterns, railroad coin changers, old railroad signal parts, vintage metal milk cans, train toys, some model trains (HO and O scale), and other railroad artifacts.
A $5 donation per person (children under 6 are free) includes admission to the sale area and entrance into the Museum building.
The Museum building includes a display of railroad and ocean liner memorabilia, as well as an operating Lionel train layout. The Museum’s rail yard boasts an enjoyable collection of locomotives and rolling stock which includes steam locomotive No. 385 (built 1907), Texaco “Fireless Cooker” locomotive No. 7240 (built 1937), a 1918 Railbus, several restored cabooses, a 1930s ice-refrigerator car and two restored club cars – the award-winning, 1912 Lackawanna Railroad “Millionaire’s Express” subscription car, and the 1927 Jersey Coast commuter club car – which visitors can walk through, taking a step back through time. Other items of interest in the rail yard include Maintenance-Of-Way handcars, antique coal conveyors, and a variety of railroad signals and mile markers.
The Museum and “TrainYard Sale” will be open from Noon to 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 14th. (NOTE: There are NO train rides on this date). No reservations are required.
