Aztec Two Step

The Troubadour: Aztec Two-Step with Scott E. Moore

In 1971, Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman created the Folk-rock duo Aztec Two-Step. Within a year, they had recorded their first of many hit albums. Their partnership lasted 47 years, during which their career accolades included the New York Music Award for Best Folk Album and appearances on Late Night with David Letterman, The King Biscuit Flower Hour, and World Cafe Live. Neal retired in 2018, and Rex and his wife Dodie Pettit are now the heart and soul of the expanded Aztec Two-Step 2.0, recapturing the multi-layered dimension of ATS’s original recordings, offering an old familiar feeling, yet with a new and exciting spin on the ATS classics.

Scott E. Moore is a veteran singer-songwriter and guitarist whose rootsy blend of blues, folk and r&b he calls “American Soul.” The Record says he “makes time disappear…a great singer-songwriter, with a mesmerizing voice and lyrics that draw you into another world…mixing lush licks of blue-eyed soul and haunting voice with the verbal flair of Tom Waits… ” He’s played with such as Americana crooner Raul Malo of The Mavericks, jazz artists Tuck & Patti, folkies Patty Larkin, Steve Forbert, Melissa Ferrick, roots rocker Rhett Miller, and even The Smothers Brothers. He’s also a noted composer for film and television, and an extraordinary studio musician.
