THE FUMOS: NYC Funk Band Reviving 70s Horn-Driven Dance Music

THE FUMOS are a NYC-based band reviving the horn-heavy dance music of the 1970s. They blend funk, rock, soul, and jazz into every performance. The 4-piece rhythm section lays down tight, heavy grooves that support a 3-piece horn section. Together, they deliver classic, danceable tunes that feel energetic, familiar, and fun. Their set includes music from Kool & The Gang, Maceo Parker, and Average White Band. In addition, they cover hits from B.T. Express, The Crusaders, and Stevie Wonder. Audiences also enjoy songs by Steely Dan, Jeff Beck, and The Band. As a result, each show creates a lively, upbeat atmosphere. People love the loose, party-like energy THE FUMOS bring to the stage. The band features veterans of NYC’s live music scene, including Jack Walsh on guitar and George Wurzbach on keys. Also performing are Tony Orbach on tenor sax and Paul Vercesi on alto sax. Kevin Bachelor plays trumpet, Charlie Sands handles bass, and Gary Ciuzio keeps time on drums.
