Sourdough 101
On Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 p.m., join Sophia Curtis of Sour Bellies for Sourdough 101 at the Mendham Township Library. During this engaging, hands-on workshop, Sophia will guide attendees through the fundamentals of sourdough bread baking. First, participants will sample two different types of sourdough bread. Next, Sophia will share practical tips and tricks to help you successfully bake sourdough bread and other delicious treats at home. Finally, each guest will leave with a jar of sourdough starter, making it easy to begin baking right away.
About Sour Bellies: Sour Bellies began with a simple belief: our health is deeply connected to the microscopic world within us. After experiencing the powerful benefits of fermented foods firsthand, we felt inspired to share these time-honored traditions with others. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted how essential immune support and overall wellness truly are. Beneficial bacteria in the gut play a key role in digestion, immunity, and even mental health. Therefore, Sour Bellies is on a mission to make fermented foods more accessible. Through workshops, education, and community outreach, we bridge the gap between tradition and science—one jar of kimchi or sauerkraut at a time.
