NJARRT: Marquise de Lafayette
The North Jersey American Revolution Round Table (NJARRT) hosts Chuck Scwam for a talk on General Lafayette, a French nobleman who volunteered to help lead the Continental Army during the American Revolution. It is a Zoom meeting on Sept 10 at 7:00 PM. Members of the public who wish to attend one of the NJARRT meetings prior to joining may request a link by sending an email to arrt.nj@gmail.com
Chuck Schwam, executive director of the American Friends of Lafayette, will discuss the life and legacy of the Marquis de Lafayette, focusing on the origins of his political beliefs, his evolving views on slavery, women’s rights and religious tolerance, his military career (particularly during the American Revolution), and his involvement in the French Revolution. Schwam also will evaluate and his lasting impact on the United States and France.
