This 42nd edition of the NJ Arts Annual 2026 marks a historic first. It features works designed for outdoor installation, transforming the museum’s eight-acre grounds into an open-air gallery from May 28 through August 23, 2026.
More than 530 recent works by 91 artists who live and work in the state were selected through a juried process. The call for submissions encouraged artists to create work that thoughtfully engages with the outdoors.
The exhibition features a wide range of media. The works respond to light, weather, and the natural environment while reimagining relationships between landscape and community.
Johannah Hutchinson, Executive Director of the International Sculpture Center and publisher of Sculpture Magazine, led the selection process.
Hutchinson evaluated each work for its response to scale, terrain, materiality, and public space.
