Log House Holiday Tours

Join us on a festive and fun journey in our log house holiday tours to Christmas Past, where, in Gustav Stickley’s iconic Log House, it’s Christmas, 1915!
On this guided tour of the decorated Log House, we’ll explore early 20th century holiday traditions and Stickley’s own ideas about the season. The era saw the rise of modern novelties like penny postcards and glass ornaments, alongside more established holiday customs like feasting, decorating with evergreens, and gift-giving. In his magazine, The Craftsman, Stickley advocated for the use of natural decorations “plucked from winter’s garden.” He promoted products and projects as appropriate and thoughtful gifts–from pottery to furniture to hand-made toys–and made recommendations for keeping the spirit of Christmas, both commercially and philosophically.
Make sure to visit The Craftsman Shop before or after your tour! Docent-led, small group tours. Regular admissions fees apply. Advance ticket purchase recommended.
PLEASE NOTE: Tours are at 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM. These tours are about 60 minutes long and are suitable for adults and older children. Recommended for ages 8+. Tours begin and end in The Craftsman Shop.
