Light Up The Night in Denville

Mayor Andes and Denville Township proudly invite you to “Light Up The Night” on June 23, 2026 from 8:30PM to 10:30PM at Flicker Terrace in Denville.

This special evening will feature a presentation by Vito Bianco from Denville’s Historical Society, who will discuss The Battle of Springfield, fought on June 23, 1780, in Union County, New Jersey, during the American Revolutionary War. This was significant because it marked the end of British ambitions in New Jersey.

Join us as the beams of light will mark the exact location, where on June 23, 1780, a Beacon was lit on what is now Beacon Hill in Denville to warn the other outpost of British activity.  In this case the Battle of Springfield.

This was one of the last major engagements of the Revolutionary War in the north, the British never advanced into Morris County and effectively put an end to British ambitions in New Jersey.
