Joyer Listening Party – LIVE at Factory Records

Joyer, tipped at Brooklyn Vegan, Stereogum, Sirius XMU, Paste Magazine and more, is the shoegaze/slowcore project of brothers Shane and Nick Sullivan based out of Brooklyn and Boston (originally from New Jersey). In the timespan of releasing two albums (2020’s Sun Into Flies and 2021’s Perfect Gray), they have played across the US with artists such as Knifeplay, Feeble Little Horse, Hovvdy, and Chastity Belt. Night Songs features friends such as Sabrina Nichols (Shep Treasure), Boone Patrello (Teethe), James Keegan (Kitchen), and lastly Brad Krieger (Big Nice Studio) who recorded and mastered the album. It was mixed by Alex Farrar from Drop of Sun Studios (prev. Wednesday’s Rat Saw God, Indigo De Souza’s All Of This Will End).

Nighttime changes people. Self-destructive behaviors are more tempting without the judgment of the daytime glow. But night also provides a peaceful, meditative setting for creativity to run wild – a haven to escape one’s day-to-day malaise. Joyer are fascinated by these after-dark hours. Their new album, Night Songs, is an instantly satisfying amalgam of swirling shoegaze guitars and memorable melodies – all while the duo examines the allure of night and its ability to shape shift from a mirror for our innermost demons to a shield from the demands of daily drudgery.
