John Lee & Friends: A Night of World-Class Jazz on The Back Deck
Join us for an unforgettable jazz evening with John Lee & Friends, a celebrated quartet led by Dizzy Gillespie’s longtime bassist, John Lee. This dynamic group has performed together for over three years. Their sound continues to grow and evolve, shaped by deep experience and unmatched talent. Each musician brings a wealth of history, having played with legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Hargrove, Alicia Keys, Sonny Rollins, Stevie Wonder, and many more.
Their performance will include iconic works by Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Ivan Lins, Wayne Shorter, and Dizzy Gillespie. In addition, the group will also perform select Stevie Wonder classics, blending jazz tradition with modern soul.
About the Back Deck Concert Series
Launched in July 2020, The Back Deck series has become a celebrated summer tradition. With over 72 live performances and more than 11,000 attendees, it has earned praise from both regional and national media. The series highlights both established and emerging artists, some of whom have gained national recognition after performing here. Held on the Museum’s elevated parking deck, these outdoor concerts are known for their elegant tailgating and exceptional live music experience.
