Go Back and Get It! A Memoir of Race, Inheritance, and Intergenerational Healing
The Morristown and Morris Township Library presents local author Dionne Ford. In 1858, the enslaved Tempy Burton was gifted to Colonel W.R. Stuart by the family of his new bride, Elizabeth McCauley. The Colonel and Tempy had six children together, one of whom was Dionne Ford’s great-great-grandmother. After finding a photo of these relatives, Ford embarked on a journey to learn more about who they were, and faced head-on the difficulty of finding oneself linked to both enslaved people and enslavers. To learn about Dionne’s journey come to the Morristown and Morris Township Library’s lower level Meeting Room at 2 p.m. We hope to see you there!
