Free Valentine’s Open House at the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms
Join us for a a free Valentine’s Open House at the Stickley Museum, where visitors are invited to explore the restored interior of the Log House, the Stickley family home, at their own pace. Inside, it’s 1912 and the Stickley daughters are preparing for a Valentine’s Day party.
The concept of a love-related holiday or festival like Valentine’s Day is centuries old, but the Stickley girls’ preparations would have been similar to Valentine celebrations that emerged in the Victorian era—celebrations which remain remarkably familiar in our time. More than 100 years later, cupids, valentines, hearts, roses, even candy hearts still represent Valentine’s Day, and among the museum’s beautiful collections, we’ll also spotlight pottery, textiles, and metals in Stickley’s Craftsman style that feature the familiar colors and symbols of the season.
