Windborne: A Harmony-Driven Quartet
Windborne is a harmony-driven quartet known for their exceptional renditions of traditional folk music. They specialize in the vocal traditions of the British Isles and early American folk songs. Their sound echoes the spirit of the Canadian group “Finest Kind,” blending folk traditions with global influences. Windborne also draws inspiration from the vocal traditions of the Balkans and South Africa, making their performances unique and captivating. They perform either a cappella or with minimal accompaniment on banjo, fiddle, and percussion, allowing their harmonies to shine.
Windborne’s ability to fuse these diverse musical influences sets them apart from other folk groups. Their performances feel both timeless and contemporary, effortlessly combining harmonies from across the world. Whether singing without instruments or accompanied by the banjo and fiddle, they create an immersive experience for the audience. Windborne’s music celebrates the power of harmony and tradition, making each performance a truly special event.
Special Guest: Chris Koch
In addition to Windborne, Chris Koch will perform as the opening act. Koch is a seasoned singer-songwriter with three albums under his belt. His latest release, QWERT’s Book of M (2024), explores “old man love songs” with soulful and intimate lyrics. Chris Koch’s performance will perfectly complement Windborne’s harmonies, adding depth and warmth to the evening.
