Dairy Day

Fosterfields Living Historical Farm returns to its heyday as a turn-of-the-century working Dairy Farm for “Dairy Day” on Saturday, June 1. Visitors can meet our new calf, Daisy, and the other Jersey cows, the breed Charles Foster brought over from Jersey to produce safe, quality milk for the Morristown area from the 1880s through the 1920s.

Throughout the day, see demonstrations of milking, cream separating, cheesemaking, and butter making. Dairy farmers will also demonstrate the Babcock Test, used to determine milk quality and measure butterfat content. During your visit, step inside the Creamery, the 1915 farmhouse, and other historic buildings on the 200-plus acre site. Along the way, stop to see sheep, goats, piglets, and a corn-cracking demonstration, after which you can feed the chickens.
