Experience the Black Oak Ensemble
Praised for its “insightful, committed and masterful performances” (Classics Today 10/10) and “fierce eloquence” (London Times), the Black Oak Ensemble has earned a reputation as one of the most innovative and exciting chamber groups on the international stage.
International Recognition
The ensemble has toured globally, performing in cities such as Amsterdam, Geneva, Paris, and Belgrade. Notably, they participated in a human rights-focused concert in Geneva and performed at the Everlasting Hope Festival in Terezin, which honors composers persecuted during the Nazi occupation of Prague. In summer 2023, they collaborated with violinist Rachel Kolly and cellist Nadege Rochat for sold-out concerts at the Schubertiade in Fribourg, Switzerland.
U.S. Performances
In the United States, the Black Oak Ensemble has appeared at the Newport Music Festival, RAVINIA Festival, Music at the Morgan, and New York University. They’ve also performed at the Chicago Cultural Center, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the University of Oregon, among others.
Ensemble Members
The group includes violinist Desirée Ruhstrat and cellist David Cunliffe—both members of the multi-GRAMMY-nominated Lincoln Trio—and violist Aurélien Fort Pederzoli, a founding member of the acclaimed Spektral Quartet.
