Animals Go to War at the Mendham Township Library
On Tuesday, November 12th, at 7pm, the Mendham Township Library will host historic program presenter, Joan Schaible, as she presents Animals Go to War.
On November 11, 1918, World War I officially ended, and today Americans remember that date to honor all US military veterans. During “Animals Go to War,” discover the other “veterans” that served with those in uniform. Join us as historic program presenter Joan Schaible introduces us to the many creatures great and small that helped save lives and give comfort during the Great War. Some of these animal “heroes” became well-known in the post-war era.
Joan was born and raised in New Jersey and attended Taylor University, Upland, IN. She started off as middle school teacher in Boonton, teaching social studies and language arts. Joan has also worked for the Morris County Park Commission as a Historical Program Specialist at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morristown and has served as a docent at The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms, Parsippany. Joan currently spends time giving a variety of presentations for school children and adult groups, as well as at libraries and senior centers.
This program will be held in the Brookside Community Church’s Scialla Hall at 8 East Main Street in Brookside, NJ.
