On Monday, June 22nd, at 1 pm, join local astronomer Kim Schoenholtz as he presents Eyes to the Sky: Amateur Astronomy in New Jersey at the Mendham Township Library. Join local astronomer, Kim Schoenholtz, as he shares information, tips and advice on becoming an amateur astronomer. Eyes to the Sky: Amateur Astronomy in New Jersey is a beginner-friendly presentation that explores this popular subject.
Participants will learn why the hobby enjoys such broad interest, as well as, highlights of New Jersey & rich astronomical heritage. This presentation guides newcomers through what is visible in the night sky with the naked eye, binoculars, and small telescopes; offers practical tips on observing in the Mendham region; and provides a basic overview of equipment, New Jersey astronomy clubs (AAI, NJAA, UACNJ), star parties, and useful apps.
In addition, Kim will propose three simple steps to get started observing that very night.
