Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival Returns August 16 with Star-Studded Lineup

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Music lovers, mark your calendars: the Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival is tuning up for a much-anticipated return to the Morristown Green this summer. The 2025 edition of the beloved event will take place on Saturday, August 16, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., offering ten hours of free live music in the heart of downtown.

A Tribute to the Festival’s Founders

This year’s festival continues the tradition of honoring two of its visionary co-founders, Linda Smith and Michael Fabrizio, who passed away in 2021. Their legacy lives on through an event that has grown into a regional cultural highlight, drawing thousands of attendees from across the country and beyond.

Grammy-Nominated Samantha Fish to Headline

Headlining the 2025 festival is Samantha Fish, a Grammy-nominated blues guitarist and vocalist known for her dynamic live shows. A force in the blues world, Fish has earned accolades including multiple Blues Music Awards, Blues Blast Awards, 22 Independent Blues Awards, and 13 Offbeat “Best of the Beat” Awards. She’s a regular on SiriusXM’s Bluesville Radio and widely recognized for both her musicianship and stage presence.

Full 2025 Lineup

This year’s program offers a diverse mix of jazz and blues talent:

  • 12 p.m. – Dani G and Friends
    Featuring Grammy-nominated saxophonist John Michalak, this group opens the day with smooth jazz flair.

  • 2 p.m. – The Jazz Ambassadors
    The U.S. Army’s premier touring big band performs timeless swing from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Benny Goodman.

  • 4 p.m. – Blues People
    One of New Jersey’s top blues bands brings its high-energy, modern blues fusion to the stage.

  • 6 p.m. – King Solomon Hicks
    Known for his soulful guitar work and commanding vocals, Hicks has built a national following.

  • 8 p.m. – Samantha Fish
    Closing out the night with a powerhouse performance you won’t want to miss.

Festival Returns to August Roots

After a few years of September dates, the festival returns to its traditional third Saturday in August, a change welcomed by local leaders.

“We are excited to be back in August,” said Mayor Tim Dougherty. “From vibrant jazz to soulful blues, there is something for every music lover. Fans come from across the country and even internationally, which is a testament to the festival’s impact. We’re especially grateful to our sponsors who make this event possible.”
