William Day House

William Day was born in Essex County, New Jersey, in August 1759. He lived in Chatham and served as a Minuteman and captain in the Morris County Militia under Col. Sylvanus Seely. He fought at the Battle of Springfield. His house at 70 Main Street still stands. It appears in the Morris County Master Plan, Historic Preservation Element, as item C3 and was documented in a HABS report. Day died in Chatham and is buried in Hillside Cemetery in Madison.
