Stephen Day House

Brother of Paul, born 1733 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey and was a later resident of Chatham. Mr. Day was a member of the Committee of Observation and Justice of the Peace. He served as a Captain in the Morris County Militia under Jacob Ford, participated in both Springfields. Mr. Day died in Chatham, April 9, 1815, and is believed to be buried in Hillside Cemetery, Madison. His home at 62 Elmwood Road remains standing. It was included in the in the Morris County Master Plan, Historic Preservation Element, item C5 and was the subject of a HABS report.
