A longtime resident of Montville and Denville, he served as a Private in the Morris County Militia under Captain Josiah Hall of Parsippany during the Revolutionary War. His military role placed him among the many local men who helped protect the region and support Continental forces. His home later drew historical interest and became the subject of a Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) report, which documented its architecture and significance in Morris County’s early history.
