Morristown Baptist Church Site
In 1754, the congregation welcomed its first full-time minister, John Gano. He later served as a chaplain in the Continental Army and witnessed both the crossing of the Delaware and the Battle of Trenton.
The next minister, John Watson, held meetings in private homes before moving the congregation to Morristown. There, members built a church on the corner of Speedwell Avenue and Park Place, dedicated in 1771. From April 17, 1776, to February 24, 1778, the church operated as a hospital and warehouse for the Continental Army.
