Lewis Carey House
According to oral tradition, the Carey House stood far from town and served as a “pest house” for soldiers with smallpox. The Continental Army first treated these men at the Succasunna Presbyterian Church, then moved them four miles to the Carey House. Locals believe Lewis Cary (also spelled Carey) fought in the Revolution, but no records confirm his service.
