Joseph Fairchild was a carpenter and, like most of his neighbors, a farmer as well. Joseph’s son Peter, who served in the Continental Army, petitioned for a pension in 1833 when he was 77. Witnesses attested to his lifelong residence, which establishes the existence of this house by at least 1756.
