John Logan Grist Mill
Description
John Logan Grist Mill
Built around 1742, the John Logan Grist and Saw Mill stood at the intersection of County Road 510 and Roxiticus Road in Mendham Township. During the Morristown winter encampment, the mill supplied flour to the Continental Army. When the government failed to fully compensate him, John Logan went bankrupt. The mill was later sold at a sheriff’s auction to merchant John Ralston, who had married Logan’s daughter, Margaret.
It remains unclear whether Private John Logan of Mendham, born in 1760, was related to the mill owner.
