Born in Morristown in 1750, Mr. Pearson remained a resident, where he "built and dwelt in a Wood house" on the southeast corner of Pine and South Streets.
He enlisted in the Continental Army in the summer of 1776, and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant on February 8, 1777, serving in Capt. William Eugene Imlay's Co. Col. Martin, Elias Dayton, 3rd Regt. And participating in the battles of Brandywine, and Monmouth.
Mr. Pierson applied for a pension from Montgomery County, Ohio in 1818 and he died in Dayton, Ohio on December 15, 1831. His burial location is unknown. The site of Mr. Pierson’s wood dwelling is now the Mayo Performing Arts Center. The theater is the recipient of a Morris County Historic Preservation grant .
