Ecstatic Expectancy with Harmonium Choral Society
Harmonium Choral Society will open its 45th anniversary season with Ecstatic Expectancy, featuring music that expresses eager anticipation, including a comparison of Durante’s Magnificat of 1746 with two premieres of Magnificat by contemporary American women composers, Dale Trumbore and Jessica French. The evening will spotlight Harmonium’s outstanding Chamber Singers accompanied by string quartet, organ, handbells and piano. Included in the concert are new works by Mark Miller, Reena Esmail, and Zanaida Robles, and David Thomson’s whimsical setting of A.A. Milne’s King John’s Christmas. Composer Thomson lives in Chatham and also sings in Harmonium.
