United States Marine Corps Celebration in Honor of America’s 250th Anniversary
The Borough of Madison invites residents and visitors to join in a special community celebration on Thursday, July 2, 2026, as Madison hosts a United States Marine Corps event commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The event will take place at Madison High School, 170 Ridgedale Avenue, Madison, NJ, and will offer the public a unique opportunity to experience the tradition, precision, and capabilities of the United States Marine Corps.
The event will begin at 9:30 AM with remarks from dignitaries, including a United States Marine Corps officer and Morris County Commissioner and United States Marine Corps veteran John Krickus, followed by performances by the renowned United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon and the 2nd Marine Division Band.
Aircraft are expected to arrive at approximately 11:00 AM, when attendees will have the opportunity to view and photograph the CH-53K King Stallion and V-22 Osprey on display. Aircraft are anticipated to remain on-site until approximately 2:00 PM, at which time the event will conclude.
“This event provides a rare opportunity for our community to experience the professionalism, tradition, and service of the United States Marine Corps while recognizing the 250th anniversary of our nation,” said Mayor Robert H. Conley. “We are honored to welcome these Marines to Madison and invite residents of all ages to join us for this memorable occasion and an early Independence Day celebration as we prepare to mark 250 years of our nation’s history, service, and enduring spirit.”
Since its establishment in 1948, the Silent Drill Platoon has represented the Marine Corps through unmatched attention to detail, discipline, and precision. Their iconic performances showcase the professionalism and pride of Marines and continue a tradition built by generations of service members who have carried the title before them.
The 2nd Marine Division Band, known as “The Division’s Own,” performs on behalf of Marine Corps leadership during military ceremonies, official civic functions, and community relations events. Through their performances, the band reflects the values, traditions, and professionalism of the United States Marine Corps while preserving the spirit and character that define the nation.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to view two aircraft central to Marine Corps operations:
-CH-53K King Stallion – Operated in support of heavy assault transport missions, capable of moving personnel, equipment, and supplies in support of Marine Air-Ground Task Force operations.
-V-22 Osprey – A tiltrotor aircraft designed to provide assault support and transport of troops, equipment, and supplies.
