Artist Workshop: Harmony in Nature
Artist Workshop: Harmony in Nature
Friedensreich Hundertwasser championed life in harmony with nature while fiercely defending individual creativity through his art. Through vivid color, organic forms, and radiant gold accents, he invited viewers to reimagine their relationship with the natural world.
In celebration of his vision, join us in the Education Annex on Saturday, March 14, at 1 PM for an inspiring, hands-on workshop. During this engaging session, Book Arts Roundtable Artist Mickey Waring will guide participants through Hundertwasser’s most iconic paintings and artistic philosophies. First, you will explore how he rejected straight lines and embraced spirals, texture, and vibrant color combinations. Then, you will examine how his work reflected environmental awareness and personal expression long before they became global movements.
Next, Mickey Waring will demonstrate techniques that capture Hundertwasser’s signature style using oil pastels and shimmering gold paper highlights. As you experiment with bold patterns and layered color, you will channel your own creativity while drawing inspiration from his imaginative approach. Rather than copying a single piece, you will interpret his philosophy in a way that reflects your personal artistic voice.
Throughout the workshop, you will receive guidance, encouragement, and practical tips to help your composition come alive. Consequently, both experienced artists and enthusiastic beginners can feel confident exploring new techniques in a supportive environment. Because Hundertwasser valued individuality above all, this workshop celebrates originality and fearless design choices.
By the end of the afternoon, you will leave with a finished artwork that honors his legacy while showcasing your unique perspective. This workshop welcomes participants ages 16 and older.
Admission costs $15 per person and $5 for members. Reserve your spot below and bring your creativity to life.
