Parallel Brass Concert

Parallel Brass Concert

Great Music on the Morristown Green proudly presents the acclaimed Parallel Brass Quintet in concert at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Morristown United Methodist Church.

The October 12 concert will support the Festival International de Musique Saint-Georges, honoring Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, born in Guadeloupe in 1745. Bologne excelled as Europe’s greatest fencer and a military leader during the French Revolution, yet music remained his deepest passion.

In 18th-century France, audiences admired him as a virtuoso violinist, conductor, and composer. His operas, concertos, quartets, symphonies, and sinfonia concertantes influenced Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and other leading composers. Authors such as Alexandre Dumas drew inspiration from Bologne’s remarkable life.

One of the Caribbean’s most prestigious events, the Saint-Georges International Music Festival celebrates diversity in the classical music world.

Parallel Brass serves as an ensemble in residence for the Festival, performing and collaborating with youth programs in Guadeloupe and St. Maarten. They mentor participants in the Festival Young Artist Program, the All-Caribbean Youth Orchestra, and the National Institute for the Arts.
