RANDOLPH, NJ: Experience the remarkable creativity of County College of Morris (CCM) visual arts students as their work is exhibited at the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in Morristown, now through April 15. This free, public showcase features 35 outstanding pieces created using a variety of mediums, including charcoal, ink, pastel, oils and mixed media.
A public reception and awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, March 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Curated by Todd Doney, associate professor in CCM’s Department of Arts and Humanities, this showcase highlights the depth and diversity of talent within CCM’s Visual Arts program. In its 11th year, the exhibit continues to offer the public a captivating look at the emerging artistic voices defining the next generation of creatives.
“I am so thankful to Charles Miller, program consultant and coordinator of the Art Upstairs Gallery at MPAC, for giving us this special opportunity to showcase the artwork of CCM art students,” said Doney.
As a juried art exhibit, winners will receive awards based on selections made by esteemed Morris County-based artist, Dan Fenelon. With over 20 years of experience as an artist, muralist, illustrator and graphic designer, as well as founder of Core Creative Placemaking, Fenelon brings an expert eye to the judging process.
The Visual Arts program at CCM will present gift certificates from Blick Art Materials to the winning student artists during the reception and awards ceremony on March 26. Awards include $100 for Best in Show, $50 for Award of Merit and $25 for Honorable Mention. Additionally, Mike Dziomba, President of the New Jersey Art Association, will present a $100 prize to the Best in Show winner and Charles Miller will present two tickets to a future MPAC show of choice to each winner.
