Morris Choral Society
The award-winning Morris Choral Society has been performing in the Morristown Area for more than 40 years. They have appeared with many famous musicians, including jazz legend Dave Brubeck and folk singer Judy Collins. The 85- voice chorus has presented a vast repertoire of sacred, Broadway, popular and jazz music. The chorus always welcomes qualified singers who are interested in becoming part of the music scene in Morris County.
The Morris Choral Society is a well-established community chorus beginning its 43rd season. The group rehearses at the Frelinghuysen Middle School, Jane Way, off Hanover Avenue in Morris Township on Monday evenings at 7:30. Some choral experience and a blending voice are the only requirements. The Society is incorporated as a non-profit musical group run by an elected Board of Directors. The choral society was named Outstanding Arts Organization 2007 by the Arts Council of the Morris Area, and its founder, R. Morristown Festival of Books
The Morristown Festival of Books is New Jersey's premier book festival, taking place annually in early fall. celebrate the power of the written word to challenge, transport and transform, while bringing together the community in conversation.
Each year's festival features more than 25 authors appearing in person. Authors speak and answer questions for one hour at one of several Morristown venues. Book sales and signings take place on the grounds of the historic Vail Mansion at 110 South Street under tents. The festival is a rain or shine event as all author talks take place indoors. The 2017 Morristown Festival of Books will take place on October 13 and 14.
