Art Around the Park
Join the Arts Council of the Morris Area, the Simon Gallery and the Hyatt Morristown and experience the work of established and emerging artists at “Art Around the Park,” Morristown’s quarterly celebration of the visual arts. Art Around the Park features contemporary exhibitions at downtown galleries and alternative art venues located in proximity to Morristown’s historic Green. “The mission of Art Around the Park is pure and simple: Create a reputation for Morristown as an art destination,” said Harry Simon, owner of the Simon Gallery on Bank Street.
Modeled after Philadelphia’s First Friday art tours, prior Art Around the Park events have attracted a dedicated following.

Messiah Sing
Celebrate the season and sing Handel’s Messiah with members of The Masterwork Chorus, conducted by Masterwork’s Music Director. Patterned after Masterwork’s popular Summer Sing program, the sing-through of Messiah’s choruses will be accompanied by a professional pianist and conducted by one of Masterwork’s own acclaimed conductors. Messiah is Masterwork’s signature piece; each year the chorus presents its rendition of the classic at Carnegie Hall and various New Jersey venues.Following the sing, join fellow singers in the church hall for holiday fellowship and a complimentary afternoon tea. Winter on the Home Front: A Civil War Christmas
Experience life during the Civil War both on the home front and at a soldier’s winter encampment. The 2nd NJ Brigade prepares camp for the holiday season, including food preps in authentically reproduced huts. Enjoy the Civil War Officer’s Ball with period music, dance, military uniforms, and ladies in beautiful gowns. On the home front, at the historic Vail house listen to the family read actual letters from Union troops written to their loved ones. Experience the family’s reaction to their loved ones away from home through diaries and letters. The home will be decorated, and the table will be set for dinner. Make a holiday craft to take home! Come to Historic Speedwell to relive a piece of our nation’s history. Take advantage of a rare opportunity and spend the day with the 2nd NJ Brigade as it brings Christmas and our nation’s history to life.

Santa Claus Special
It's the time of year when Santa Claus invites one and all to celebrate the coming Christmas Season with Family and Friends by riding the rails onboard the Whippany Railway Museum's SANTA CLAUS SPECIAL excursion trains. The 10-mile, 45-minute round trip excursion from Whippany to Roseland and return allows passengers time to enjoy the Festivities of the Season and the merriment on the train.Seeing the excited faces of the children as they climb aboard the Christmas Holiday-decorated trains, ensures an afternoon for Family Fun.During each excursion, Santa makes his way through the train and visits with the children onboard. Santa's helpers follow along, giving the kids a special gift from Santa. Be sure to bring your camera and take pictures of the kids with Santa, so they can always remember their day onboard the train!

Morristown celebrates the evening with entertainment throughout the town!First Night® is a non-alcoholic celebration of the arts and culture that attracts families, seniors, singles and anyone who is looking for an inexpensive, fun way to ring in the New Year.
First Night® Morris County typically features more than 400 artists in over 80 performances, ranging from dance and comedy to music and children's performers. The event has showcased rock and roll, classical, blues, jazz, opera, and choral music, to name just a few, and attendees return year after year to see both their favorite returning performers and others for the first time. First Night® performances take place in venues within walking distance of the Morristown Green, including The Community Theatre, Morristown High School, county administration buildings and numerous places of worship in the immediate area. The event takes place rain, snow or shine, and free parking and shuttle transportation are available.
